BRAUM'S DAIRY FARM -- DAY TRIP

March 26 – 27, 2008 - Braum’s Dairy Farm, Tuttle, OK - $245.00 pp Wednesday, March 26, Day 1: Today we find ourselves headed south to Oklahoma City. Due to the schedule at the dairy, this will need to be a 2 day trip. We will spend some time at Bricktown eating lunch and enjoying a ride on the water taxi before heading to the Oklahoma City National Memorial. This memorial stands in remembrance of the 168 men, women and children who lost their lives during the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City April 19, 1995. We will then go to the Myriad Botanical Gardens. The centerpiece of the gardens is the Crystal Bridge with a 35-foot cascading waterfall. The lush foliage and brilliant tropical flowers create an authentic rain forest environment. Overnight in the Oklahoma City area. Thursday, March 27, Day 2: This morning we will depart for Tuttle, OK for our tour of the Braum’s Dairy Farm processing plant. Our first stop will be at the visitor center where they show an excellent film on the farm. We will then go to the plant to see how the yummy creations go from milk to the products we all love. The farm covers approximately 15 square miles and has self-sufficient processing, water and waste treatment facilities. They do things from the ground up. They have the capacity to produce, feed, and store a total of 200,000 tons of alfalfa and corn each year to be used as forage for the dairy herd. The milking of the cows is continual, stopping only periodically to clean the barn and equipment. The cows are brought to the barn in groups of 400 and they can milk 1,600 per hour. Keep in mind that the public is not allowed in the cow barns. Braum’s 260,000 square foot processing plant features the most modern equipment available. Following our tour, and of course ice cream samples, we will depart Oklahoma and return to Yoder at approximately 6:00pm.
